County Young Singers

Musical Director: Emma Calvert

Coached by Andrea Rhodes, Nigel Waugh

The North Yorkshire County Youth Choirs bring together young singers from across the county who enjoy singing whilst learning interesting repertoire and developing important techniques. The Youth Choir performs in concerts throughout the year, some in high profile venues and some in partnership with other musical organisations whilst Young Singers is a new addition to our singing family. The county choirs are not selective and the emphasis is upon finding singers with potential who love making music with others.

North Yorkshire County Young Singers is the newest addition to our County Ensembles. In it’s first year we are specifically for younger singers in school years 5 – 7.

Young Singers is a hugely exciting addition to our Youth Choirs family. Having run a number of highly successful Big Sings and workshops it was clear that there was an appetite for a new younger choir.

The emphasis in rehearsals and performances is on the enjoyment of singing, as well as improving singing technique and establishing good choral practice. The repertoire covered is wide-ranging, from choral classics to arrangements of songs from musicals and modern pop songs. It is a not a selective choir and all children are welcome to join; we are most looking for potential and a love of singing rather than an already refined singing voice.
