It is possible to buy or hire an instrument from the Music Service, subject to availability.
Buying an Instrument
You may be able to buy instrument VAT free if you are having lessons with the Music Service. This is called the Assisted Purchase Scheme (APS). There is a small administration fee to do this but you could potentially save a considerable amount of money. There are some restrictions due to HMRC rules. Instruments must be portable and you must have lessons with the Music Service on the instrument you are purchasing. Click here for full details.
Hiring an Instrument
Subject to availability, the Music Service runs a hire scheme for certain instruments (not keyboard or percussion). Rates are very reasonable. Email countyhall.music@northyorks.gov.uk to enquire.
